CHRISTMASTIME RETURNS to The Quay

written by James Taylor 06/12/2018
CHRISTMASTIME RETURNS to The Quay
The Christmas tree in The Quay was decorated by Gaye Slater, John De Witt and Annie Hiscock.

CHRISTMAS is back at The Quay, with the Torquay estate’s Christmas tree decorated and shining ahead of their annual community celebration.

The Quay Residents Association and Intrapac Property are welcoming residents who have just moved into QUAY2, which
in turn, has created a bigger and better annual “Christmastime in The Quay” celebration and annual not-for-profit charities’ fundraising event.

The Christmas and Hanukkah holiday period will be celebrated from November 30 to January 7 and the 12th day of Christmas, otherwise known as Orthodox Christmas Day.

The Quay and Quay2 neighbourhoods will be decorated with streetlamp banners, decorated homes and streets, and driveway cinema movies for the holidays.

The decorations also include a Christmas tree at the roundabout at the intersection of Quay Boulevard and Headland Drive
(next to Quay Reserve), which features a metre-wide solar-powered star at the top.

“Christmastime in the Quay” will be celebrated at the Hilltop/Pirate Park on December 14 from 6pm.

The winners of the house and street decoration awards will be announced by Surf Coast Shire mayor Rose Hodge and local business financial donors, and will receive a donation to their not-for-profit charity of choice.

The event will feature face painting, a jumping castle, sporting activities with Kelly Sports, One Spirit Africa drumming and audience participation, The Carolvanners singing Christmas carols, and a visit from Santa.

“Intrapac is proud to be involved in this wonderful Christmas event for the Quay communities again this year,” Intrapac Property chief operating officer Maxwell Shifman said.

“Historically The Quay is renowned for its community spirit throughout the year and now, our new Quay2 residents are invited to join in and be a part of this wonderful annual event and fabulous community spirit.”

The Quay Residents Association committee member Nick Kearsey said The Quay was a wonderful neighbourhood to live in.

CHRISTMASTIME RETURNS to The Quay “Everyone knows each other and is considered as extended family.

“We are also a charitable neighbourhood, so this is one event that we all can have great fun together and help raise needed funds for resident award winners’ nominated not-for-profit organisations.”
