Multiple arrests have been conducted in homes across Sydney courtesy of operations of the Australian Federal Police on properties that were suspected of conducting money laundering operations.
According to ABC Australia, multiple officers of the New South Wales Police Riot Squad and Public Order have been sent to search various properties in areas such as Bankstown and Bass Hill. The ABC report added that in a statement, the AFP has indeed been searching properties with the help of the Australian Border Force and the NSW Police as well.
The statement reads: “The investigation relates to allegations of money laundering and dealing in the proceeds of crime.”
No Immediate Threat
However, the authorities have guaranteed citizens that the police operations do not necessarily mean that there are impending, immediate, or current threats to public safety in the Australian community.
There has been at least one man that was arrested amid operations in a household located at Bass Hill. It appears more arrests will be likely, although no confirmation of this has been given as of reporting.
There are also no news if operations of a similar suit will be performed in other regions in Australia as well.
