After a long hot summer and autumn temperatures gradually decreasing, now is the time to reinvent your living space with earthy tones and rich colours to create comfortable and cosy spaces for the colder nights ahead.
Here, Melissa Gullifer, interior prop stylist, reveals her top five favourite autumn collections from leading furniture retailer Focus on Furniture so you can create inviting autumn looks you will love this season:
1) Beautiful beds
“Upholstered beds have been trending for quite some time now and I can see why. They are super comfortable and they look glamorous. Right now, I’m loving the Vera upholstered bed. It’s a genius design with its attractive piping detail and button detailing and the best part is its handy storage drawer underneath. This season, cosy up your bed with a lot of warm and inviting layers to create a cosy retreat for deep sleeps and lovely lie-ins.”
2) Delightful dining
“A dining table is the focal point when family and friends come together to embrace food and conversation. I love entertaining at home but need to resist the temptation of eating before my guests arrive! My favourite dining table at the moment is the Havana Dining Suite with Ibiza Chairs. It features that classic French provincial look and looks fresh and inviting.”
3) Buffets are back
“Aren’t they ever! Buffets are the best for storage and with so many styles and varieties out there, you can’t go wrong. The Mosaic buffet is my choice this season. Its warm honey tones and dark eye-catching grains will complement any home.”
4) Lazy lounge
“My ideal lounge is the Vancouver chaise and ottoman. I love that sink-in feeling when relaxing on it and I use the ottoman to stretch out my legs or for placing snacks and magazines. The rich pepper fabric is so inviting and it comes with two matching scatter cushions. As a stylist, I enjoy mixing and matching cushions and introducing new warmth with a quality throw to add a bit of luxury and cosiness to my lounge.”
5) Timeless timber
“Timber withstands seasonal trends and to create a timeless warm and inviting space, I can’t go past the Dakota round lamp table. This table brings a touch of urban meets industrial and is so popular right now. This gorgeous table is crafted from Tasmanian Oak and accentuates the beautiful timber grain. Small details can make a big statement. Rich timber statement pieces like the Dakota are perfect accents for living spaces this autumn. I’ve had fun styling this one!”
